QUESTION

What measures of carbon capture and storage by a) tree planting, b) burial in old oil reservoirs, or c) other ways would be needed for Scotland’s Cambo oil field if the estimate of 250 million tonnes of to-be-released carbon is accurate?

ANSWER
Climate science says that fossil fuel emssions are an external perturbation of the otherwise balanced carbon cycle that causes atmospheric co2 to rise and that the solution is for humans to stop burning fossil fuels. It does not say that the effect of burning fossil fuels can be offset by carbon cycle flows. The proposition that an aleternative form of climate action is for humans to plant trees and such is inconsistent with climate science.
